Overview
Historic western-style restaurant famous for its rich curry, established in 1879.
Established in 1879, Gotoken is one of Hakodate's oldest Western-style restaurants and a window into the port city's early cosmopolitan history. The flagship dish is the rich, deeply flavored curry, a recipe that has been refined over 140 years and bears little resemblance to standard Japanese curry. The elegant dining room in the historic building feels formal without being stuffy. Their curry can also be bought in packaged form as a souvenir. Arrive early for lunch on weekends, as lines form quickly for the limited seating.
