Overview

One-kilometer sakura tunnel above rapeseed fields. Kanto's best-kept spring color contrast.

A 1-kilometer tunnel of 1,000 Yoshino cherry trees flanked by fields of yellow rapeseed flowers makes Gongendo one of Kanto's most photogenic spring scenes, yet it remains a local secret compared to Ueno or Shinjuku Gyoen. The color contrast between pink blossoms and golden fields peaks in late March to early April. Summer hydrangea and autumn cosmos keep the park beautiful year-round, and evening illuminations during cherry season are particularly magical.
