碁石浜
The Goishi Coast got its name from this beach on the southern side of the cape.
Goishihama Beach takes its name from go stones, the black and white playing pieces used in the traditional Japanese board game. The beach's small, glossy black and white pebbles, ground smooth from constant wave action, do look remarkably like those pieces. The gravel formed from eroding sandstone and mudstone. Local fishermen use Goishihama as their home port and offer boat tours of the Goishi Coast from here, sailing around the cape and, conditions permitting, entering the narrow Ramboya Gorge near Thunder Rock and passing beneath the natural sea arches at Anatoshi-iso Rock.
