Overview
Three-century-old eel restaurant that invented seiro-mushi, Yanagawa's steamed eel over rice.
Operating since the 1680s, this is the restaurant credited with inventing Yanagawa's signature seiro-mushi, eel marinated in sweet soy sauce, steamed over seasoned rice in a wooden lacquerware box. The preparation locks in the eel's juices far more than grilling alone. Lines form early on weekends; weekday lunch is the locals' move.
