Ancient temple located in the historic Naramachi district with distinct, centuries-old roof tiles.

Nestled in the quiet Naramachi merchant district, this is one of Japan's oldest temples. The roof features some of the original tiles from the Asuka period, overlapping in a beautiful two-tone pattern. It offers a peaceful retreat from the busier parks.

Look closely at the roof of the main hall to spot the reddish-brown tiles, which are over a thousand years old.
