Fukutsu Beaches
福津の海水浴場
Overview
Fukutsu is located on a gently curving bay that faces the Genkai Sea, protected by headlands at each end.
Fukutsu stretches along a gently curving bay facing the Genkai Sea, divided into three main beaches: Fukuma, Miyajihama, and Tsuyazaki. Fukuma is the most lively, with surf shops, cafes, and accommodation options including boutique hotels and glamping, along with a tourist information center covering watersports. Miyajihama is a quiet stretch between the two, notable for a stone torii gate marking the road toward Miyajidake Shrine. Tsuyazaki, at the north end, is wider and shallower, well suited for families, with a retro atmosphere from the Showa-era beach houses, some converted into inns and restaurants. All three beaches face west for sunset views, and in August fireworks launch from floating platforms offshore.
