A modern harborfront aquarium in Iwaki that focuses on the meeting point of the warm Kuroshio and cold Oyashio currents off the Fukushima coast. The signature feature is a massive triangular glass tunnel that immerses you in the underwater world of the North Pacific. Interactive workshops let kids (and curious adults) handle sea creatures, and the outdoor Shiomigawa area recreates a natural tidal environment. The building itself, designed with dramatic glass walls, fills the interior with natural light in a way that feels quite different from most aquariums.
