蒸ノ湯温泉
Single-inn onsen 3.7 kilometers above Goshogake on the Aspite Line, said to be the oldest in Hachimantai with continuous use for about 400 years.
Fukenoyu (also written Fukenoyu) is a single-ryokan onsen at 1,100 meters elevation, 3.7 km up the Aspite Line from Goshogake toward the summit. Local records date the spring's continuous use to about 400 years ago, the oldest in the Hachimantai cluster. The signature feature is a series of open-air baths set in a clearing with steam rising directly from the volcanic ground beneath the wooden tubs. Day-use bathing is available; the road closes from early November to mid-April so the inn operates seasonally.
