Fujimi Kogen Ski Area

Family-oriented resort on Mt. Nishidake in Nagano Prefecture, with gentle slopes and a well-regarded ski school that make it a good fit for beginners and children. The runs are not large or steep enough to challenge advanced skiers, but the uncrowded conditions and welcoming atmosphere more than compensate. A cafe at the base serves handmade soba noodles, a fitting warm-up after a morning on the snow. In summer, the area converts to a wildflower park and hiking destination, with panoramic views across to the Yatsugatake range from the upper slopes.
