Overview
Museum-studio in Japan's brush capital, housing the world's largest calligraphy brush at 3.7m.
Kumano produces 80% of Japan's calligraphy and makeup brushes, and this museum-studio showcases the town's 180-year brush-making heritage. The world's largest calligraphy brush, 3.7 meters long, 400 kilos, hangs from the ceiling. Watch master craftsmen hand-assemble brushes from animal hair, then try two of the twelve traditional production steps yourself.
