Japan's oldest surviving Western-style stone factory building, built by the Shimadzu clan in 1865. Originally used for metalworking and shipbuilding, it now serves as a fascinating museum outlining Kagoshima's pivotal role in the Meiji Restoration. The thick stone walls echo with early industrial ambition.
