The former Sakata Clinic is a well-preserved example of Art Deco architecture and is located on the main shopping street of Menuma.
Built in 1931 along the main shopping street of Menuma, the former Sakata Clinic is one of the best-preserved Art Deco buildings in the region. The 10-room layout is intact: dispensary, examination room, delivery room, operating theater, X-ray room, and darkroom. Original equipment remains in place throughout, including glass syringes, surgical instruments, and early X-ray machines. Decorative Art Deco pendant lamps and molded milk-glass fixtures survive alongside the practical medical fittings of the early Showa era. The clinic changed little until it closed in the 1980s and has since been designated a registered Tangible Cultural Property. It opens to the public several times a year.
