A historic church that disguises a vaulted European interior within a traditional Japanese exterior.

Located on the secluded Hisaka Island, this church uniquely resembles a traditional Japanese house from the outside. However, stepping inside reveals a beautiful ribbed vault ceiling and European-style altar. It is a perfect architectural representation of blending Eastern and Western cultures.

Local tips

Reaching this church overland is extremely difficult; booking a sea taxi from Fukue Island is the easiest approach.
