Expo'70 Commemorative
park
万博記念公園
Expansive grounds and numerous facilities providing a full day's worth of enjoyment at this memorial park.
The Tower of the Sun, Taro Okamoto's surreal sculpture from the 1970 World Exposition, anchors this 260-hectare park in Suita. After decades closed to the public, the tower's interior reopened in 2018, revealing a psychedelic Tree of Life installation tracing evolution from single cells to modern humans. Outside, the grounds hold a Japanese stroll garden, woodland trails, seasonal flower fields, and one of the region's best playgrounds. The National Museum of Ethnology and the NIFREL aquarium-zoo are also within the Expocity complex nearby, making this a full day out for families.
