Oze National Park

Oze is Japan's largest highland marsh, sitting across the borders of Gunma, Fukushima, Tochigi, and Niigata at roughly 1,400 meters elevation. Raised wooden boardwalks cross the wetland so you walk above the reeds and ponds without damaging them. In July the marsh turns yellow-white with mizubasho lilies and then blue-purple with kakitsubata iris. October brings copper and red foliage across the surrounding peaks. The trailhead at Hatomachi-toge is the most accessible entry point, with buses running from Numata and Oze-Iwakura during the hiking season.
