Enman-ji is a small but colorful temple in the heart of Matsuyama's Dogo Onsen district, known for its vivid collection of carved and painted Buddha statues and its role as a place where couples and hopeful romantics come to pray for success in love. The temple grounds feature rows of brightly colored ema (prayer boards) and omamori (charms) dedicated to romantic relationships, giving the space a cheerful, heartfelt atmosphere quite different from more austere temples. A large jizo statue draped in red cloth stands as the centerpiece. It takes only a few minutes to explore, making it an easy addition to a Dogo Onsen visit, tucked just off the main shopping arcade leading to the famous bathhouse.

Remove shoes before entering any hall. Look for a shoe rack at the entrance. Carry a plastic bag for your shoes if none is provided.
