Eikan-do Zenrin-ji

The evening illumination in November is the draw. Lit maples reflect in the garden pond, and the pagoda glows against the dark sky. Crowds peak mid-month. A weeknight visit gives you the same view with more room to breathe. The main hall holds a rare Buddha statue looking back over its shoulder.
