Edosei Honten
restaurant
江戸清 本店
Famous for its giant 'Butaman' (steamed pork buns) filled with juicy meat and vegetables.
Edosei Honten in Yokohama's Chinatown has been drawing crowds since 1945 with its signature jumbo Butaman, a steamed pork bun roughly the size of a softball and packed with juicy seasoned pork, shrimp, bamboo shoots, and vegetables. The bun weighs in at about 250 grams, nearly double the standard size, making it a substantial snack or light meal on its own. Lines form quickly on weekends, but the wait moves fast and eating the oversized bun while wandering through Chinatown is a quintessential Yokohama experience. They also offer seasonal variations including a spicy version and a shark fin bun, though the original remains the crowd favorite.
