Overview
Museum with cool exhibits on the Naruto whirlpools & bridge, plus an observatory with scenic views.
The Eddy Onaruto Bridge Memorial Hall in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture, brings the science and spectacle of the Naruto whirlpools to life through interactive exhibits and multimedia displays. The museum explains how the unique geography of the Naruto Strait creates some of the world's largest tidal whirlpools, reaching up to 20 meters in diameter during spring tides. An upstairs observatory provides panoramic views of the Onaruto Bridge and the strait below, where you can sometimes spot the swirling currents in real time. The museum's hands-on approach makes it especially engaging for families, with simulations and models that let visitors understand the powerful forces at work beneath the bridge.
