Overview
Daitoku-ji is one of Kyoto's great Zen monastery complexes, a walled compound of over twenty sub-temples set among moss gardens and ancient pines. Most visitors see only Daisen-in and Koto-in, but the quieter sub-temples reward slow wandering. The nearby Funaoka Onsen provides a local sento experience after hours of temple walking.
