Overview

Lake Nakaumi island accessible by bridge, once a closed peony-farming community now open to visitors.

A small island in the middle of of the Nakumi lagoon, it is said that the islanders gave the unappealing name of Daikonshima, “Radish Island”, to discourage outsiders because of their precious crop of ginseng.
