Overview
A forest ridge trail connecting Kita-Kamakura's temples to the Great Buddha through ancient cedar and bamboo groves.
This 3km trail traverses the forested hills above Kamakura, linking the temple district around Kita-Kamakura Station to the Great Buddha at Kotoku-in. The well-maintained path passes through dense deciduous forest, bamboo groves, and several small shrines, with occasional glimpses of the ocean through the canopy. It transforms a standard temple-hopping day into an atmospheric woodland journey.
Local tips
Walk from Kita-Kamakura toward the Daibutsu (not the reverse). The final descent opens to the Great Buddha which makes a much better reveal moment.
