The main draw is the plum festival from mid-February to mid-March, when over 800 trees bloom alongside music and martial arts performances. Michizane’s personal relics are National Treasures, but they are displayed only on special occasions and are not a reliable viewing.

Local tips

Purify your hands at the temizuya before approaching the main hall. Left hand first, then right, then pour water into your left hand to rinse your mouth.
