Cross the Sandbar to Chiringashima Island

From March to October, low tide exposes an 800-meter sandbar between Tarahama Beach and Chiringashima, the largest island in Kinkowan Bay. The crossing is passable for two to four hours around low tide before the sandbar submerges again. On the island, an observation deck looks back over the coastline and bay. Visitors can fish, gather shellfish, or walk the sandy shores. The island also has patches of endangered plant species for botanically minded visitors. A campsite near the beach allows for an overnight stay, and a viewing platform on the nearby hills gives a good aerial perspective over the whole scene.
