残波岬
Dramatic 30-meter cliffs with a white lighthouse offering panoramic ocean views and excellent sunset watching.
Cape Zanpa stretches for roughly 2 kilometers along the East China Sea in Yomitan Village, its 30-meter limestone cliffs forming one of Okinawa's most dramatic coastal edges. The 31-meter Zanpa Lighthouse, built in 1974, is one of only 16 lighthouses in Japan open for public climbing. On clear days from the top, you can make out the Kume and Kerama islands on the horizon. The grassy areas around the lighthouse have picnic spots, walking paths, and a large shisa statue. Winter brings whale-watching opportunities, and the ruins of the UNESCO-listed Zakimi Castle lie nearby.
