Cape Inubo
landmark
Cape Inubo
犬吠埼
Overview
Cape at the north end of Kujukurihama Beach in Choshi, jutting from the peninsula with sweeping ocean views.
Cape Inubo juts out from the easternmost edge of the Kanto region, making it one of the earliest spots in mainland Honshu to catch the sunrise. The 1874 Inubosaki Lighthouse, one of the first Western-style lighthouses built in Japan, still stands at the tip and is open for climbing, with views that stretch across the Pacific in every direction. Windswept coastal trails run along the cliff edges past rugged rock formations, and the area draws surfers and anglers alongside the sunrise chasers. The nearby Choshi fishing port provides excellent fresh seafood, so pairing a dawn visit with a late-morning sashimi breakfast makes for a satisfying outing.
