Cafe Olympic in Nagasaki has earned a cult following for its towering parfaits that range from a modest 30 centimeters to a jaw-dropping 1.2 meters in height, piled with ice cream, fruit, whipped cream, and decorative cookies. The retro kissaten-style interior has barely changed since opening, with vinyl booths, warm lighting, and a glass display case showcasing the improbable dessert creations. While the parfaits are the star attraction, the menu also includes solid kissaten fare like Napolitan spaghetti, pilaf, and sandwiches. Sharing a large parfait with friends is practically mandatory, as even the medium sizes challenge most appetites.
