Overview
Submerged 2,000-year-old forest stumps displayed in underground pools alongside mirage exhibits.
Excavated from beneath Uozu harbor, massive 2,000-year-old tree trunks preserved in waterlogged soil are displayed in submerged pools exactly where they were found. The museum's glass-walled underground gallery lets visitors walk among the ghostly stumps as if underwater. Mirage exhibits explain the atmospheric phenomenon that makes distant mountains appear to float over Toyama Bay.
