Botchan Train Museum

Named after Natsume Soseki's beloved novel set in Matsuyama, this museum celebrates the city's historic Botchan steam train that inspired the story. Inside you'll find original rolling stock from the early 1900s, period photographs, and scale models tracing the line's evolution from steam to modern tram. The displays are calm and unhurried, suited for solo visitors or anyone interested in Shikoku's development. Look for the small locomotive replica you can board near the entrance. Plan about two hours, and combine it with a walk along the Dogo shopping arcade nearby.
