Japan's only original mountain castle, floating above morning clouds with a resident cat lord.

The only mountain castle in Japan with a surviving original tower, perched at 430 meters. It appears to float above a 'sea of clouds' from October to December. A resident cat named Sanjuro serves as unofficial lord.

Local tips

The castle grounds are free to walk even when the keep is closed. The stone walls and moats are impressive on their own.
