Sado Island Beaches

Sado Island has two types of coastline, and it is the sandy beaches that make for good swimming and long afternoons in the sun. Futatsugame, on the island's northern tip, is a sandbar connecting Sado to a small offshore island resembling two turtles, and it faces both sunrise and sunset. The coast continues to Onogame Island about 3 kilometers away. For more space, Sobama Beach runs 4 kilometers with white sand and clear water suitable for swimming in summer and surfing in autumn and winter. Both beaches allow camping during summer. The rock cliffs of Senkaku Bay, accessible by boat, offer dramatic contrast to the sandy stretches.
