Overview
Ceramics-focused museum with historical displays, a pottery studio & a shop, plus a restaurant.
Banko no Sato Hall in Yokkaichi celebrates the Banko-yaki ceramic tradition that has flourished in Mie Prefecture since the 18th century. The museum displays historical pieces alongside contemporary works, tracing the evolution of Banko ware from its ornate beginnings through to the distinctive unglazed purple clay teapots that are prized by tea enthusiasts today. A hands-on pottery studio allows visitors to try shaping clay on a wheel or painting their own ceramic pieces under the guidance of local artisans. The on-site shop sells authentic Banko-yaki directly from local kilns, and a small restaurant serves tea and light meals on Banko-yaki tableware, completing the immersive ceramic experience.
