Inside Okayama Station, this is the go-to spot for Okayama Barazushi, a vinegared rice dish piled with local seafood, shredded egg, lotus root, and seasonal vegetables. The dish traces its origins to an ingenious workaround of feudal sumptuary laws that limited meal accompaniments, so residents simply mixed everything together. It arrives in a traditional wooden container, colorful and well-composed. The station location makes it a practical pre-train stop, though the quality is far above typical station food. Chirashizushi and nigiri sets are also available.
