Overview
Aze Prince Beach stretches for 1.5 kilometers along the northeast coast of Tokunoshima.
Aze Prince Beach stretches 1.5 kilometers along the northeast coast of Tokunoshima, its waters enclosed by a barrier reef that creates shallow, clear conditions ideal for snorkeling up to 200 meters from shore. The beach takes its name from a 1972 visit by then Crown Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko. The coarse coral sand requires sandals or similar footwear. Facilities include changing rooms, showers, and a lookout with views toward Kakeroma Island. A free campsite can be booked through Tokunoshima Town Hall. The beach became part of Amami Gunto National Park in 2017.
