嵐山よしむら
Overview
Popular soba restaurant with stunning views of the Togetsukyo Bridge and Arashiyama mountains.
Arashiyama Yoshimura serves hand-cut soba with a direct view of the Togetsukyo Bridge and the forested Arashiyama mountains behind it. The buckwheat is domestically sourced, freshly milled and cut each day, and has a clean, nutty bite in both hot and cold preparations. The riverside terrace setting is what makes the meal linger in memory: cherry blossoms drift past in spring, crimson maple leaves float by in autumn, and the Katsura River moves steadily below. Queues form during peak seasons, especially at lunch. Arriving before opening or after 2 PM helps. It is simple food done carefully, with one of Kyoto's best dining views.
