Aomori Bay Bridge

The Aomori Bay Bridge spans the inner harbor and has become the most recognizable element of the city's skyline, its twin A-shaped towers visible from across the water. At night the bridge is lit and reflected in the bay, which is why it draws couples and photographers to the waterfront in the evening. The bridge connects to the Aspam building on one side, whose triangular glass tower holds an observation deck with panoramic views. The surrounding waterfront area has been developed with walking paths, parks, and event spaces. It's a short visit, best done in the early evening before or after dinner in the nearby Auga market, which serves Aomori's famous seafood.
