Anzu no Sato Farmers’ Market
直売所「あんずの里」
Overview
Anzu no Sato is a farmers’ market selling local fruits and vegetables, fresh fish, and other products such as sauces, pickles, snacks, and boxed lunches.
Started in 1994 when local farming families set up roadside stalls from pickup trucks, Anzu no Sato grew within two years into a permanent market selling vegetables, fish, pickles, sauces, and boxed lunches from growers whose photos and messages accompany each product. A restaurant and community center are attached, where cooking classes and craft workshops are held. The market sits below a hillside apricot orchard of 2,500 trees, with steps leading up through the blossoms in spring and fresh apricots available in summer. Views from Anzu no Sato Park at the top extend over the Genkai Sea.
