Ama Beach
beach
阿真ビーチ
Zamami's most photogenic beach with powdery white sand sloping into impossibly clear water, perfect for snorkeling.
On the main island of Zamami, reachable by a short walk from the ferry pier. The water is shallow, sheltered, and clear enough to see the sandy bottom in most conditions. Sea turtles feed on the seagrass just off the beach and are spotted regularly by snorkelers, particularly in the morning. A campsite behind the beach makes it possible to stay the night, and the stars over Zamami, far from any city light pollution, are exceptional. The beach has no commercial development beyond a small gear rental hut. Zamami itself is reached by high-speed ferry from Naha in about ninety minutes, with slower car ferries also available.
