Akiyoshidai Safari Land
秋吉台サファリランド
Overview
Drive through enclosures where lions and bears roam free, or hand-feed giraffes at this Yamaguchi wildlife park.
Akiyoshidai Safari Land sits on the edge of the Akiyoshi plateau in Mine, Yamaguchi Prefecture, a short drive from the Akiyoshido limestone cave complex. The park operates as a self-drive safari route where cars move slowly through open enclosures holding lions, tigers, bears, giraffes, and zebras at close range. For those without a car or who prefer not to drive, guided bus tours cover the same route. A petting zoo section near the entrance has smaller animals accessible on foot. The combination of the safari park and the nearby cave makes for a full day in the Mine area without needing to go far between the two.
