Overview
A boutique winery in the Akiu valley producing small-batch wines from 12 grape varieties grown on terraced hillside vineyards.
Akiu Winery cultivates approximately 7,000 grapevines across 2 hectares of terraced land in the Akiu hot spring valley. The tasting room offers flights of red, white, and sparkling wines alongside locally made cider. Weekend visitors can walk through the vineyard and see the small-scale production facility. The on-site restaurant pairs wines with Miyagi ingredients like Sanriku oysters and Sendai beef.
Local tips
The sparkling wine made from Delaware grapes is the signature bottle. Ask about the seasonal limited releases that sell out within weeks of bottling.
