赤沢自然休養林
Small train transports visitors around this forest park with walking trails through ancient cypresses.
Home to some of the oldest and most magnificent hinoki (Japanese cypress) trees in the country, with specimens dating back over 300 years. A charming narrow-gauge forest railway carries visitors along a 2.4km track through the towering trees, offering a gentle introduction to the park. Multiple walking trails branch out from the rail line, ranging from easy boardwalk strolls to longer loop hikes through dense woodland. The phytoncides released by the cypress trees make this one of Japan's pioneering forest bathing (shinrin-yoku) destinations.
