Akamon-dōri Arcade
shopping
Covered shopping street with the densest concentration of vintage clothing and anime shops in Osu.
One of four covered shotengai that make up the Osu shopping district, Akamon-dōri runs east-west between Banshō-ji and Osu Kannon and holds the highest density of vintage clothing and anime/idol-goods shops in the area. The mix tilts younger than the more antique-leaning Niomon-dōri arcade nearby, with secondhand denim shops, used record stores, and crepe stands sharing block-long stretches. The arcade's name comes from a vermillion gate that once stood at its eastern end (long since demolished), and the route is the practical spine of any Osu walk.
Most vintage shops open at 11 AM, not 10. The arcade is busiest 1 to 4 PM on weekends; weekday mornings are calm and many shops have weekday-only sale racks.
