赤水展望広場と叫びの肖像
Akamizu View Park on Sakurajima looks out over Kinkowan Bay and Kagoshima City, with the active volcano rising behind. The focal point is a lava-rock statue called Sakebi no Shozo, The Shout, commemorating a 2004 concert by Kagoshima singer Nagabuchi Tsuyoshi. A three-kilometer Nagisa Lava Trail connects Nagisa Lava Park to Karasujima Observatory, winding through fields of cooled 1914 lava where mosses, grasses, and black pine have taken hold over the past century. Karasujima itself was an island until that same eruption buried it under lava. The Yunohira Observatory at 373 meters offers 360-degree views of the bay and mountain. A nearby dinosaur park with seven large statues and tall slides draws families.
