Akaishi Shokudo

A no-frills local favorite on Ishigaki Island's northern coast, known for generous portions of Okinawan comfort food at honest prices. The standout dishes are the soki soba, pork rib noodle soup with a rich, savory broth, and the oversized tonkatsu that hangs over the edge of the plate. The interior is simple, with counter and table seating, and the atmosphere feels like eating at a neighbor's kitchen. At around 900 yen a meal, it is among the best value lunches on the island.
