Overview

Nagasaki Chinatown (Shinchi) is one of Japan's three historic Chinatowns, a compact grid of restaurants, bakeries, and shops centered on Chinese-style gates. Champon noodles and sara udon originated here. The Lantern Festival in February transforms the district with 15,000 lanterns.
