国際通り
Two-kilometer street stretching through the heart of Naha, lined with shops, restaurants, and nightlife.
Kokusai-dori, or International Street, stretches nearly two kilometers through the heart of Naha and serves as the vibrant main artery of Okinawan street life. Lined with souvenir shops, restaurants, live music bars, and colorful market stalls, the street pulses with energy from morning until late at night. Every Sunday, a portion closes to traffic for a festive pedestrian-only aji-machi (taste town) experience. Side streets branch off into covered arcades like Makishi Public Market, where you can pick fresh seafood downstairs and have it cooked upstairs. The mix of traditional Okinawan crafts, purple sweet potato treats, awamori spirit tastings, and Okinawan folk music drifting from open doorways creates an atmosphere found nowhere else in Japan. Come hungry and plan to linger.
